Our Story

Owner & CEO - Bruce Gradkowski

Picture
“Pilgrimage Hospice is all about the team:  leadership committed to the patient above all and a team atmosphere where everyone is pulling on the rope in the same direction to deliver excellence in care.”
- Bruce Gradkowski, President and CEO
Born and raised in Pittsburgh Pa, Bruce attended St. Margaret’s in Greentree and Seton La Salle High School. After college, he played in the NFL for 11 years, closing out his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a result of his roots, Bruce holds a deep sense of compassion for the community.  Compelled to give back, he built a hospice agency around the concept of placing the interest of the patient first.
The healthcare system has become complicated over the years. By providing a home town, patient-focused experience, the highly skilled Pilgrimage staff offers a personalized touch and a level of compassion that feels like family.

As owner and CEO, Bruce is committed to the empowerment of the Pilgrimage professional team to make decisions with the patient’s best interest as a top priority creating an experience that feels like: “Our Family Caring for Your Family.” Bruce personally invites you to experience The Pilgrimage Difference.

Why We're Different

In order to provide the highest caliber of hospice care and service, we commit to the following:
  1. We are available for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  2. We design care based on the needs and expectations of the patient and family.
  3. We communicate with our community health care partners with every visit.
  4. We communicate with families based on their needs and wishes.
  5. We do not disqualify patients solely based on the type of treatment they are receiving. The goals of the treatment are always considered.
  6. There is no higher priority than the needs of a patient and family. Therefore, we commit to the follow:
                           - Immediate response to telephone calls
                          - Priority hospice admission, based on the wishes of the patient and family (2 hours
or less with a physician order and the family at bedside)

                         - We follow up on all referrals in 30 minutes or less
                         - Priority patient needs are addressed immediately
                         - We respond to all concerns within one business day

        7.  After hour calls answered 24/7 by an experienced hospice nurse-not a                                  commercial answering service.
